Nope. I will sometimes reduce a little bit of balsamic vinegar when i'm cooking the onions, which I suppose adds a bit of sweetness. But I'm not throwing any white granulated sugar in there.

I always make my sauce from scratch, but it’s a hard pass for me on the sugar. If you were to add it you are should add just a little bit to reduce the acidity. Personally I like my spaciest to be a little more on the acidic side, but if you prefer something a little sweeter throw a little in and see how you like it. I’ve never used a pre made side though so I can’t give any advice on that!
