Childcare. Make sure to do your research!

I’d like to start by saying I’m an early childhood educator and have worked at some amazing daycares. This isn’t meant to scare anyone out of choosing childcare, more a caution to make sure you spend time touring, asking questions, and spending time in your child’s future classroom.

The back story to this post... I’m part of a Facebook group called bad moms and a woman asked for advice on biting. The amount of comments saying “bite them back” was a little concerning but I can understand how parents who don’t have a lot of information about how to handle biting could assume that is the appropriate way to deal with it... and that is also their choice to discipline their child how they see fit. what I wasn’t prepared for was a childhood educator saying she bit the child and pulled their hair with the parents permission... I’m horrified.

Always ask your future childcare what kind of discipline they use, how they handle conflict between children, and what their biting policy is! A good daycare will use positive discipline and helping the children work on conflict resolution. I’m hoping this will help other parents know what to look for and ask when looking for care for their child.
