Breast milk bottles and daycare! Normal?!?

How many ounces of breast milk is/was your little one drinking per feed at daycare or while you’re away around 3months?

My son is now 12wks and before he started daycare a couple weeks ago, I really had no idea how much he was drinking because I solely nursed him. Now that I’m back at work, he’s getting bottles at daycare. He was taking 4.5-5oz every 2hrs and I felt like he was blowing through milk like crazy but they said he was ticked when that was gone and would want more within 2hrs. So now they are starting to give him 5.5-6oz and making him wait the 3hrs or more if he’s willing which has seemed to work and he’s not taking quite as many ounces during the day! He wouldn’t be hungry in the evenings and only nurse to go to sleep and I needed him to nurse more than that if I didn’t want to have to pump.

At work, I’m pumping 4-5oz from each side, twice a day. I’m keeping up with him, but barely!! I get that within the first 10-12mins and continue to pump for about 20mins. He’s a quick nurser and only nurses for about 10mins but he’s more efficient than a pump so I’m guessing he’s getting at least those 5oz each time he nurses.

I feel like 6oz is a freaking lot for a 12 weeker!! But he’s pissed if it’s anything less! And he’s not spitting up a ton! A little here and there but not much! I called the pediatricians office yesterday and the nurse basically said, as long as he’s not spitting up a bunch, he’s probably fine! I just worry about over feeding him!

He’s healthy but he’s definitely not a big chunk either! Haha all that milk, I’d expect some rolls!! Lol
