Winter clothes and shoes ?

So I’m planning a trip to Canada in December and I live in the Caribbean and I’ve never traveled anywhere that gets snow so I’m a little lost on what types of jackets would be ideal for that kind of weather. Are parkas ok? And types of shoes as well. Ofcourse I have boots but they’re not fit for snow. I don’t want to fall and injure myself. Do you recommend any online clothing stores that I can order stuff from? I don’t want to spend too much because it’ll probably be years before I wear them again.

What are you doing in Canada?  If the extent of your outside activities will be running in and out from the cold I would argue any shoe will do (and I think I live in one of the coldest provinces). 
It also depends what province you are visiting and how far north you’ll be. 
I’m impressed that you have a parka (and call it that)!  Like the other poster said, toque, mitts/gloves and if you’ll be outside for longer periods of time ski pants, scarf, wool socks, and dressing in layers all will help!
As for boots, in December a lot of places may still have a mucky slushy snow so although the suede type boots may look appealing they will quickly get ruined if it’s slushy out.  Personally, if you are going to have time and a car when you get here I think I would just go to a Marks Work Warehouse when you get here and buy a pair (you can look online at some now if you want).

Canada in December will be cold, especially for someone not used to the cold. 
A parka is good. Bring layers (tank tops under sweaters for example).  Boots are important, but I’d definitely get the kind that’ll work in snow. No uggs or anything. Don’t forget a hat, scarf, and gloves too.
