First time help
With my daughter I exclusively pumped for a year, but I'm desperate to have direct feeding be apart of my journey with my 2 week old son. However, I am struggling. He has trouble staying on when latching which we discovered was due to my letdown being too strong. I use a hand pump to start the initial letdown and then latch him and that has helped us a lot. However, he is now constantly falling asleep at the breast (within seconds!). He needs to be stimulated, burped, changed, undressed, etc. every few minutes. He barely feeds 15 minutes total after 45 minutes of trying. However, he will drink expressed milk no issue. (We had to do this because he was having issues gaining weight and passing his jaundice and I didn't want to supplement with formula). I've tried different positions and techniques and checked his latch but I am at a loss. Someone please help! I don't want to exclusively pump for #2 but after 15 days of this I am hitting a wall.
