No attempts to talk at 24 months?

My lo turned 2 this month and has yet to say any words. He’ll make a few half hearted attempts at a select few alphabet sounds but words, no. Nothing. Anyone else in this situation?

What did the paediatrician say at his 1 year, 18 month and 2 year check ups? At this point, he should be seen again by a professional and they can determine if it’s just his personality or if he’ll need intervention such as speech therapy.

My daughter says about 16-17 words. Her dr isn’t concerned. We have a program here called early head start which I love and they’ve been coming since 4 months old  once a week. They weren’t concerned either but being her mom I had early intervention evaluate her. They said it could be a small delay but it’s not concerning. She’s just focusing on learning and mastering other skills. She’s had a perfectionist mind set her whole life so I think she’s waiting till she knows she can say it right. She didn’t crawl till 9 months but she just got up one day and crawled like a champ. She didn’t attempt and “fail” she waited till she could do it. The same went for walking. Every baby and child does things at their own pace when they feel ready.

My little boy didn’t like talking at all!  He showed a huge interest in the world around him but didn’t fancy discussing it!
Paediatrician said they would only be concerned if he a) didn’t pass a hearing screening or b) notice the world around him.   Neither applied. 
Fast forward 12 months and he speaks exceptionally well in 2 languages and has no speech problems at all.  
It’s a marathon not a sprint.  All children are different x

My son! We have him in Early On since speech therapy didn't help where it should of (he can say 4 words but only I you're Dad, on a random Tuesday that snows in July. Usually he just grunts & whines). 
He'll be starting ABA therapy soon. Have you seen a ENT? To check his hearing?
