Would you prefer?

Question

I’m having difficulty trying to decide if this year we should do a real or fake Christmas tree. 
Real pros: cheaper than fake (30-60 bucks), smells nice, looks great, one time use and throw it away 
Real cons: having to constantly water it, fire hazard. 
Fake cons: doesn’t smell, super expensive- 100-200 bucks 
Fake pros: 1 tree for possible life, looks like a real tree and probably better shipped.

Real ones can catch fire if they're too dry. Especially with lightbulbs.

I’ve always had a real tree growing up and we carried on that tradition with our own home. I live in the PA mountains and we have a lot of local tree farms. Some are cut yourself and include a ride on a tractor and picture opportunities and cider, etc. We use a local guy who charges $35 and all we do is text him after Thanksgiving and he’ll go out to his farm, cut one based on the size (height and width) that was ask for, and then when it’s in he calls us and we pick it up 10 mins from our house where he lives. When our son is older we plan to go cut our own. I have never heard of anyone I know having their tree catch on fire from lights. This comment section is the first I’ve heard of it and most people have real trees here. As for bugs, that’s another issue I’ve never run into. Ever. When tree season comes around we don’t see many bugs outside....or in. I do vaguely recall myth busters did an episode trying to catch a tree on fire now that I think about it and the lights they had on that thing were a completely ridiculous number...  Nothing will compare to a Christmas tree that is fresh from a farm... I guess it just depends on where you live.

We have cats so we use fake Christmas trees. If we didn’t have cats, we’d have real ones

I will always prefer real, but that’s just the kid in me. Real Christmas trees hit different, however fake ones are much easier to clean up after and less hassle. So I use fake even though I wish I could have a real tree

When I was growing up we always had a real tree and I loved it so.much pretter and the smell was amazing but now that I'm an adult with my own family we have a fake tree....

my family usually uses a fake tree. it's expensive but you can use it year after year. we spray the tree with scents so it smells nice lol. sometimes we get a real one but a fake is a great option and you don't have to deal with taxing cleanup
