6 month old winter gear???

Question

Hey all, I am FTM. I know baby shouldnt wear a coat in the carseat. Or have to many layers on them..i live in Ohio and its freezing her from now till april sometimes. I plan on buying her a little coat, hat. Does she need mittens? Do i need to get one of those wool carseat zip up things? She will be 7 months old in decemeber.

I’m in Canada so it’s pretty cold and aside from hat, mitts and coat I also have a car seat cover that goes over the car seat so it doesn’t change the seatbelt function the one I have has a fleece lining so it helps with warmth as well as a water resistant shell, I still use a light blanket under also

I had a baby in feb in Canada. Over his clothes I put a thinsulate sweater, a hat, then a blanket, then one of those bunting bags that goes over the whole car seat and doesn’t get in the way of the straps

I was in PA with my first. We had the whole big warm gear for playing outside with hats and mittens... or actually he was small enough he fit in the fluffy outfits that closed over his hands. For the car I had hats, mittens, booties, and thick blankets to carry him out in and keep over him in the car. We went to daycare every day like that. We had a convertible car seat so couldn’t use one of those cover things.

I got my daughter a hat and mittens. I live in Indiana. I plan to layer her clothes and use a jacket or sweater that’s safe for her to wear in the car seat and I’ll always bring a blanket. If you plan to still use the infant seat, I would get a cover for it. Remember to keep top layers easily removable just in case baby gets too hot.
