Low pumping output but baby seems content after nursing
Hi moms!
I’ve been looking for a logical answer, maybe one of you have the same experience. So I’ve been exclusively pumped for the first 6 weeks of my baby’s life because he had nipple confusion, he rejected my breast. When I pumped, 3 hourly for 15-20 mins, the output is only 60 ml while he was feeding 120 ml each feeding, also 3 hourly. So half of it, I supplement with formula.
One fine day I decided to try latching him again, and he accepted my breast! We kept nursing since then, only bottle feeding him in the evening 8pm (breastmilk) and when he wake up middle of the night 2 pm (formula) because my hubby wants to feed him too. During night time I’m still pumping and the output is around 60-90 ml (not much improvement) but I’m wondering how come my baby is okay to drink 60ml from breast but not okay from the bottle (he will scream for more if we feed him bottle under 120ml)
My baby is now 11 weeks, gaining weight fine and still nursing.
This is a picture of him milk drunk after nursing session.
I was thinking if my breast is not built for pumping? Or my baby has multiple letdowns? I use a hospital grade pump by the way, do warm compression before pumping, massage while pumping, I do it all, until my breast is empty and feel very light.
Any same experience or possible answer?
Thank you in advance!
