embarrassing story... did i do the right thing? (tmi: vomit)

my best friend is in town this weekend and i wanted to take her out to the local bars for a fun night of dancing and drinking. before she arrived, i noticed i was feeling sort of sick/nauseous but couldn’t figure out why (i assumed i was hungry). i ate fine and the feeling basically went away. when she got here we drank a little at my apartment before going out (i had one drink and so did she).

when we got in the uber, the same nauseous/sick feeling returned but i assumed it was carsickness because i was in the backseat and the driver had the heat on around 75-76°. when we got out of the car, i felt a little better and we got into the bar no problem and found a table.

after about ten minutes, i decided to go to the bathroom. my stomach was a little shifty and i didn’t get a drink when we got there because of it. as soon as i walked into the bathroom, i projectile vomited all over the bathroom floor (there were drunk girls taking pictures in the stalls, that’s why i couldn’t make it).

i was immediately embarrassed because there was a bit of a line and all the other girls immediately started to panic and freak out. i quickly made my way into an open stall and threw up again. after it was over, i immediately felt 10x better. there was no residual nausea, nothing. i felt perfectly fine. meanwhile, outside the stalls, everyone kept complaining about the smell and how there was puke on the floor.

when i came out, i washed my hands and asked the bathroom attendant for some paper towels and i bent down to clean it up. it took me a couple minutes, but i finally got all of it and apologized for not making it into the stall. she didn’t say anything to me in response.

the other girls waiting in line seemed really shocked i wasn’t drunk. i told one of them i actually didn’t feel good (and it wasn’t alcohol) and she almost seemed sympathetic.

i feel so terrible for what happened because it’s not their responsibility to clean up my vomit even though i think i got most of it. should i have told the manager of the place or something? it’s the next day but i still feel guilty.
