CM smells like metal? 37 weeks pregnant

I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant and I've noticed my discharge smells metallic, kind of how it used to smell before my period would start. Could this mean my mucous plug is coming out soon? I've also had an increase in vaginal discharge.
