Surprise C-Section Led to our Perfect Boy ๐๐
Our beautiful baby boy was born last night at 10:23pm perfectly healthy and wonderful.
I really had in my head what I wanted for my birth and it was almost immediately different. I wanted a natural birth scenario where I could move and labor in whatever way felt best. But almost immediately I was tethered to the bed by uncomfortable IVs and a blood pressure cuff. Then the baby started having trouble and I could only lay one specific way or his heart rate would drop dangerously low. I was miserable and uncomfortable and just not at all what I was expecting. Dealing with contractions while stuck in an uncomfortable position was absolute hell. I didnโt want an epidural but we decided it was the best choice considering the amount of discomfort I was in. Soon after, the baby started having more heart rate issues and the decision was made that a c section would be best for all of us. I was terrified since this was so far from what we had pictured, but the health and safety of me and the baby trumped any personal preference. Luckily, thanks to the epidural I was significantly more comfortable and the c section was a breeze! When our little one came out he cried immediately and I instantly broke down.
It wasnโt anything that I pictured or wanted. In fact, it was exactly what I was afraid of. But it ended up being perfect. Things moved fast, I was only in pain for a short period of time, and everyone got through safely. Be open to changes in your birth plan! Your attitude makes such a huge difference in your ability to get through it! Good luck!
