What feeding method are you going with ?

I have started giving purees but now I really need to decide which approach I want to go with. I'm scared that my nerves are keeping me away from BLW. I need your guys' opinion!

We did baby led weaning from the day my daughter turned 6 months. She did great and is now 2. Everyone always comments on how shes such a good eater, she feeds herself so well, uses utensils with ease. My aunt had a baby 2 days after my daughter was born and he was fed purees from 4 months old. Hes 2 now and barely eats, doesnt feed himself, etc

You’re not supposed to do a mixture of both. If you start with purées and then go to solid finger foods, that’s not BLW. BLW is only when you skip the purées entirely.

We did purees and my son can almost feed himself at 19 months.

Started with purées then when she was around 8 months I started adding in bits of solids like pieces of banana and slices of avocado, baked yam... softer things. Then around 9 months I started more solid foods.

We started with purees at 5 months and at 7 months we switched to baby led weaning. He is 9 months old and he eats very well with his hands and also a good variety of food.

My sons a choker. He has choked twice on small bits of food when he was little. No way would I give him a banana to experiment with. It’s just not for him. We did only purées for a bit and then moved up to small bits of food but not like whole strawberries or anything. He’s almost 2 and I still don’t give him a whole strawberry. It’s just his nature to be too eager with his bites and it’s not worth the risk 🤷🏻‍♀️ he feeds himself and uses utensils just fine.

I didn’t even know about BLW before I started looking into alternatives for my purée hating son, and I was terrified at first. I thought there was no way he could deal with chewing without teeth, or different flavours, or biting off good sized pieces for himself.
After I started, all my worries went away. I realized he could do a lot more than I thought he could, and I should trust him a lot more. 
Do your own research and see what works best for you and your baby... there’s no right or wrong way to feed your baby.

It depends on baby.  My first did BLW like a pro, starting at 6 months, my second started with purées at 8 months old because she was weird about textures.  She didn’t start actual solids until 14 months old.

I let her feed herself the purees when I hand her the spoon and she caught on so fast so it really makes me think BLW is the way to go. I think I'm just scared lol.

I’m not sure when my ped will recommend starting solids (shes 4 mo next week but doesn’t sit up on her own yet not is very interested in foods) but once she gives the okay, I’m gonna do purées until about 6 months then do BLW finger foods.
