Break up

I’m 17, my ex is 20 we have been dating for almost 2 years. He always treated me well, he smoke weed, he was my first love my first everything. He gets me, I get him. He doesn’t have a job at the moment, but never makes me pay for anything. Yesterday we broke because he texted another girl anonymously that he loved her...she didn’t know it was him so she said fuck off. But what if he didn’t do it anonymously. I broke up with him. He feels horrible. But I’m just so hurt. But I love him so much still. Am I wrong for breaking up with him? Should I give him another chance?
