When do babies weight gain start slowing down?

My son is 17 lbs now at 5 months. My friends daughter was 19-20 lbs at her one year birthday. She is a healthy looking little girl that’s TALL with long legs. More toddler looking then baby (they grow up so quickly!) but the whole weight thing just confuses me lol. I know it should slow down soon right?

My pediatrician said around 6-9 months old is when the weight gain slows down. My son was 17 lbs 9oz at his 4 month old appointment. 🤦🏾‍♀️

For breastfed babies it's about an ounce a day for the first six months I think, then it slows down as they become more active and burn off more calories.

My son is 4 months and at his appointment last week he weighed 19 lbs 2 oz 😬 I asked when his weight gain will slow down, the nurse said should be soon but he is also really tall so he might just be a big boy. Although I have heard that breastfed babies slow down after 3 months so maybe it will be soon!
