Here’s my birth story💕: warning it is a little long

Brittany • Lilly Rose 11.5.19💕

So on Tuesday November 5th I woke up feeling blah. I thought I was just nauseous from not eating yet so I had breakfast, got ready for work and went about my day. Prior to feeling sick all last week I was having a sharp pain under my right boob. My doctor told me it was probably a gallbladder attack so I just thought nothing of it. Then I started to get headaches on and off and then nauseous on top of it. So about 2 hours into my work day I was convinced it was something more than just feeling blah. So I called my doctor and the nurse actually was upset that I didn’t call sooner and told me to come right in.

I went and grabbed my husband (we work at the same place) and said we need to go and we went off to let my bosses, which on happens to be my mom know. We left and got to the office and they took me back and said my blood pressure was high. Waited for my doctor to come in he tested my blood pressure again and it was worse the second time he took it. So he did a check and told me I was dilated to 5cm but he wanted me to go to the hospital to get monitored for my blood pressure because he was concerned especially since I was getting headaches.

So my husband and I left and went home to grab my hospital bag and to change out of our work clothes. I showered real quick, for dressed and we headed out to the hospital and got there about 4pm. They took us into a triage room to monitor me and when I got there my blood pressure was 156/91. So they let me sit there and had it cycle every 10 minutes and each time it was just worse. So around 6 the doctor on call came and told me I was being admitted and that he was going to induce me because of my blood pressure and the only way it would improve was to get the baby out. So he checked me and I went from 5cm to 7cm in a total of 2 hours. He told me wanted me to get a round of antibiotics in since I tested positive for strep b before he started pitocin.

They moved us down to a labor room and got me hooked up for my antibiotic and around 8 they started the pitocin. My family and nurse were shocked that I was having contractions but didn’t feel them at all. They literally felt like little period cramps. Shortly after I asked if I could get up and walk around and around 9, 9:30 that is when the contractions started to get just a tad stronger, not much but enough to know what was going on.

At 10:30 I opted for the epidural which was a piece of cake. I thought it was gonna be awful. Then about 10:45 my water broke. I looked over at my nurse and said “I think my water broke” she got up and came over and was like yeah, it broke alright. It literally was everywhere. She had to call help in to change all the sheets and everything. Shortly after that my family got to come back in the room and as soon as my husband walked in the door I was hunched on my side in pain from a contraction calling for him. My nurse actually had to call the anesthesiologist to come back and give me a stronger dose.

At 11 my doctor came in and had a nurse check me and I asked everyone but my mom and husband to step out. I was fully dilated and her head was right there. So they told me on my next contraction they wanted me to start pushing. They explained to me what to do and as soon as a contraction started they had me push. At first I had a hard time with it and my doctor gave me a break and left the room. So my nurse had me do practice pushes and when a contraction started we did actual pushes and I got the hang of it. The doctor came back in the room shortly after. I pushed for about 30-40 minutes and at 11:51 pm on November 5th my beautiful daughter Lilly Rose was born. It was the shortest and easiest labor I ever had. Now the love of my life and very best friend is here and I couldn’t be more in love 🥰💕
