•Starting Essential Oils• I Need Advice

Hi Mamas! I’m wanting to get started on using Essential Oils. I’ve tried doing a tiny bit of researching on it on Pinterest but I still don’t quite understand enough to get started. I just love that it is a more natural take on things than using medicines or other things. One of my main reasons why I’d like to start using is to help my family sleep! I have a few questions!

••So first off, I have a 3 year old and soon a newborn (I am 32 weeks Pregnant!)- are these oils safe to diffuse and use on them/around them?

••2nd- We have a Dog & a Guinea Pig, should I be careful of diffusing oils with them in our home?

••3rd- Where do I even purchase a diffuser and Essential Oils??

••Lastly, how do I actually use them?😂

I’d love to be able to diffuse oils when my family is sick to keep from giving the babies medicine as often any certain oils I should use for this?

A GREAT resource is Using Essential Oils Safely website! Answers to all your safety questions you can find there. As far as type of oils there are many good ones! I use a few brands...Plant Therapy, Aura Casia, Young Living, DoTerra, Edens Garden. You can purchase a diffuser off amazon.

Ok so 1) using certain ones while pregnant actually can cause preterm labor. So be careful and Google safe oils to use around kids and pregnancy. 2) alot of them ARE poison to animals. Google a list and be very careful with what you use.3) you can purchase them from Walmart or any where with a pharmacy or candle section. And 4) it's a couple drops in water in a diffuser and itll do its jobAlways dilute the oil. They're to potant on their own and can be very harmful. I actually make my own perfume, bug repellent, air freshener and many other things using oils but currently cant while i'm pregnant.

Oh you’re going to love them!!! I’ve been using oils for about 7 years now. First and most important - use a high quality brand. This is not a time to buy generic! If they’re on a store shelf and cheap, there’s a reason for that, it’s an unregulated industry so many have added fillers. Which no one wants to be diffusing in their home! Also if you’re looking for guidance I’d recommend using dōTERRA or Young Living as they have advocated to help you along the way. I’m actually a dōTERRA advocate, I’ve found them to be more effective for me over the years 😊 As far as using them with pets, it depends what kind. Cats are more sensitive than dogs, the main oil to avoid with dogs is Tea Tree (melaleuca) and give them the option to leave a room with a diffuser running (just keep the door open). If you’re using a high quality oil they are totally a safe option for babies and kids! Just always dilute with coconut oil them to be more gentle, and avoid “hot” oils like cinnamon or oregano. Message me if you have more questions! Enjoy! 💕

I've diffused lavender since I was pregnant and still do with my 3 month old. It helps us all wind down and sleep at night. I got my diffuser off amazon and I'm careful to only use pure oils. I'm not sure about diffusing around animals though.

I wouldn’t diffuse oils around the newborn. Maybe wait til they are at least 6 months old. They just need clear air with some humidity in it up to that point.

U can get oils at your local Health food store or on line.I just read that some oils can make dogs sick ..I used lavender n everyone( kids n dog)seemed happy but I never even thought to wonder if it wasnt good in any way till I read the thing about the dog.I had it on a Google poo up.At the hospital where I delivered the doulas get trained in essential oil use..most midwives are pretty knowledgeable too Congrats on your growing family
