The dang sock would never stay on my first baby, she was such a wiggly sleeper. It would cause the alarm to go off and scare the absolute bejeezus out of my husband and me!

We are planning on getting the sock. When I was a baby I just stopped breathing, and it terrifies me that it could happen to my kiddo. Any little bit of extra help I’m taking.

Our paediatrician did not recommend it at all. We ended up getting an under mattress apnoea monitor but our paediatrician didn’t even recommend that. Unfortunately this kind of monitoring isn’t shown to reduce the sids rate and isn’t recommended by red nose here in Australia as it tends to give parents false security. 
We had a lot of monitoring in NICU and special care for nearly 7 weeks and it was nice to not change a foot probe every nappy change. The apnoea monitor was a nice in between for us.

I was so lucky that my coworker got one as a gift and her baby is older now so she is letting me borrow it for a few months. You might look for a used one on Facebook marketplace.

I used it with my first born who is now 2 and plan on using it with my second son. We loved it, was extremely helpful and reassuring. It is a little sensitive to movement if he kicks it off a little but that’s a small issue considering you’ll have monitoring of his oxygen levels.
