For anyone struggling with anxiety who can not afford to go to a psychiatrist or therapist!!

So I’m a 21 year old college student. My dad had died a few years ago and when he did I had no health insurance for a while after that. I couldn’t afford it, the cheapest quote I got was $278.00/month with an extremely high deductible. I couldn’t afford to go to a psychiatrist or therapist at that time, I had a part time job and me and my boyfriend now husband had just moved out gotten a house it just wasn’t doable.

Sooo in that time I was having HORRIBLE anxiety. Panic attacks daily. I could barely leave the house it was debilitating. I had always had anxiety and was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder when I was 16, but it was never as bad as it was in 2017-some of 2018. This was part to do with me moving out of my moms, starting college, and my dad being diagnosed with cancer. I lost so much weight I couldn’t eat because my anxiety was so bad it would make me physically sick to the point I was nauseous constantly.

So, A bout a year and a half ago I decided to take it into my own hands I couldn’t live that way anymore. It got to the point it was affecting my relationship with friends, my husband, and my day to day life.

I opened up to a close friend and told them what I was going through. They told me about this book called “the anxiety and phobia workbook sixth edition” and swore that it helped to treat their anxiety. Well I’m weird about things like that. At that point in my life I thought medicine was the only thing that could help me I felt hopeless, but I was willing to try anything so I bought the book off amazon.

Well each morning I made it a routine to read 30 minutes of that book. I also made myself a little journal and would take notes in it. This book CHANGED MY LIFE YALL. Yes it did talk about medicine, and encouraged therapy/going to a psychiatrist as well. But it also had different ways of helping anxiety. It taught breathing exercises, finding the root cause of your anxiety, going back to your childhood, different coping strategies, changing your mindset, fixing mistaken beliefs etc.

So I started doing these things and applied them to my life daily. A step at a time. Well I have not had a panic attack in a year now! I do get anxiety here and there but I now know exactly what I need to do when I start feeling anxious. I also meditate each day. I make it a priority to have time for self care each day.

It really transformed my entire life. Now I’m not saying to just go off your medicine for anyone that’s on it!! I think medicine can be a great thing. I think going to a therapist is a great thing. Find what works for you.

This is for the people who can’t afford to go to a therapist, or who have tried medicine and it hasn’t worked etc. Or even if you’re on medicine/going to a therapist but you are still struggling with anxiety. I really recommend this book!!!

I just wanted to share because I know how debilitating anxiety is. How much it can affect your quality of life. It was horrible. Hands down the hardest and worst point of my life so far. But there is hope y’all!!! Don’t feel hopeless. ❤️❤️❤️ I know this is long but I just wanted to share with everyone
