Helmet baby?

Hey mamas! ￼ Despite my best efforts to keep my boy off his head, My LOs doctor was mentioning she might refer him to a specialist because his head is a little flat in the back. Has any mama needed a helmet for your babies before? What can I expect? I’m a first time mom and I don’t know what the process will be. Feeling defeated 😕.

My little guy just for his fitting:

He smiled and watched the lights from the scanner the whole time. 
It's not a painful process. For them or us. You'll call Orthotics and Prosthetics to get an appointment set up. It can take a while to get in. They told me ideal time is 3-6 months old. My son is 7 months so we are starting late. Which means he will probably have it on a bit longer than if I got the process going sooner. But his pediatrician kept pushing it back, so I just took the initiative myself. 
They'll scan your LOs head to get shape and then send that to build the helmet. Then you'll come back in within 10 days to get the helmet and have it trimmed where needed. 
There are some adorable decals for the helmets and even a lady in California who hand paints them. They are to die for. But around 400 bucks!

My friend found a pillow on amazon. Search amazon and it helped her baby and she didn’t end up needing a helmet

We have a little one (8m) at my school with a helmet to correct head shape and it really doesn’t bother him at all and he will only have it for about a few months. The first few days he fussed about it but after that nothing he just goes on like normal!

My helmet boy. He had trofocilois (when they struggle to turn their necks). Physical therapy corrected his neck issues but we still need to help him shape his head. They will do measurements, ect at your appointment. Your baby might not even need one. Dont bet yourself up too much its not your fault. They dont even notice the helmets and its only a few months at most that they need them.
