How did you start talking to your significant other?

Hello ladies of eve,

I have a question, how did you guys start talking to your significant other when you didn’t know him/ her? How did you approach him/her and how did you know what to start the conversation with?

I am currently trying to get the courage to talk to this guy but i never know how to start the conversation or what to say. I have never talked to him and we have no friends in common. He works in a store that I’ve gone into with the intention to talk to him but i don’t really know how to divert the conversation from talking about shoes to getting his number or anything else lol i need help!!!
