How soon after taking castor oil (in any mixture) did you go into labor and what was your experience with it?

Do NOT take castor oil to induce labor. It can cause baby to poop in the womb and they can end up inhaling their maconium. It's not recommended or safe.

Do u know there are countless numbers of babies who have literally died because a mom was being selfish and took castor oil because they couldnt “handle” being pregnant for a couple more days?

Do not take castor oil while pregnant!!! You do not want the baby to have meconium in their water. My son had it anyways, and aspirated it, and had to have his lungs cleaned. He didn't cry when he was born. That is not an experience I would wish on anyone.

Please don’t take castor oil. It is dangerous. Your baby will come when they are ready. If your doctor feels you need to be induced they will induce you. Castor oil can hurt your baby or worse.

Sooo this is SUPER controversial. I did. My water had broke, this was my second pregnancy, I was induced with my first because my water also had broken and neither times did I go into labour. I had a bad experience with being induced, I didn’t want to if I could avoid it. My midwife gave me instructions for what she called a midwife brew. Told me to sleep on it, to call her in the morning if i I hadn’t gone into labour (which she was sure I would). I didn’t. So I called her. She said you can either come in and get induced or you can mix of the brew and take it. She said if it wasn’t working by 6 hours to come in to be induced but to call at 4hrs. I drank it over the course of half an hour (thinking about this still makes me wanna vomit cause it was AWFUL, and I have an iron stomach, like I’m not pick my eater, I’ll eat anything, I grew up on a farm and nothing makes me nauseous but this, this was disgusting) at 8am and call her at 12pm to let her know what was going on. Which was nothing. I told her I was going to have a bath and get ready to meet her at the hospital at two. So I start running the bath. About half way done filling the tub, I start getting contractions. By the time the bath was full, I told my husband to call her back and tell her we were going to the hospital now cause it went from nothing at all to every 1 min having contractions. Baby was born 2.5 hours later. It was crazy. I’d NEVER recommend taking castor oil Willy nilly. I was under direct supervision from my midwife and had exact amounts to take and when to take it and an expedient plan to get baby out if it didnt work. That being said to answer your questions. I finished the brew at 830am and baby was born at 2:45pm.

Meconium in babies waters is from them being overdue not the castor oil. You take such a small amount that it can’t get through the placenta. (what my doctor said) Everything they blame on castor oil can also be blamed on simply being overdue. No real proof nor research has shown castor oil to be dangerous. Midwifes brew worked for everyone I know. I have personally not tried it. And nobody I know has tried it without the green light from their doctor first!! Weigh your risks because it will be different for everyone and make sure your midwife or doctors know. But the 4 friends I know who tried it had their baby within 24 hours, fast labor and all healthy. They said they wouldn’t do it again because they barely had time to make it to the hospital lol and the contractions were hard and on top of eachother.
