My baby sister was picky as heck when she was a toddler. What helped me most with her was asking her what she wanted and letting her help me make it and letting her choose how much she wanted on her plate. For toddlers getting to make their own decisions about anything is super fun. My son isn’t that picky but I get him involved with dinner a lot. He loves it when I put the food on the table and he gets to serve everyone, those meals are the ones he eats the most veggies. And when he’s being a tired grump about eating my husband lets him sit on his lap and eat off his plate, it’s the same exact food but apparently it’s less poisonous off Dad’s plate.

Also- don’t let her tell you what she wants to eat. Make her the balanced meal and let her sit there and eat it.

The little guy I watch refuses to eat and it has come down to either he eats or no play time or anything and he has to sit there. He throws a fit or 2 and gets threatened with time out but he eventually eats. Its worse for his parents than with me though. He usually ends up in time out 2 or 3 times with mom and dad but he knows I wont put up with it. Some times a bribe with a piece of candy or something else he wants works too.

How old is she? My son is 3 and if he specifically asks me for a food, I tell him he can't have anything else until he at least tries it. I'll let it sit on the table half the afternoon if I have to, but he usually ends up taking at least a bite. You can't force her to eat, and making it into a huge deal is just going to make her more anxious about trying new things. I'd just leave it on the table and say "this is what you asked for, this is what I made. You don't have to eat it, but I'm not cooking something else if you won't even try a bite. If you try it and don't like it, you may have ___ instead. Otherwise you'll have to wait until your next meal."
