This afternoon I went in for an SHG test. Last night I was curious to know what others had to say regarding this exam. Alot had said it was just like the HSG which was slight cramping. So I went in thinking this would be nothing. Well when the doctor started the procedure she inserted the catheter and started to inject the saline solution and all it was just pouring out of me and so far no pain. She then ask her nurse to give her a different catheter when she inserted the new catheter I felt immediate cramping and then the nurse started injecting the syringe with the saline and OMG I was not prepared for the sharpest pain I have ever felt in my life and then the pressure as if my uterus was going to explode. My doctor then was asking me not to tense because the saline will not fill the uterus. The nurse continued to inject the saline and the pain was not as bad as the initial push of the syringe. I personally believe the reason it was so painful at first was possibly the nurse was injecting to quickly.
