I experienced a traumatic pelvis exam and I need help determining if it was assault or not.

I have spoke to two different people on 1800RESPECT and they gave slightly different answers. They were helpful with their referrals but I still feel lost.

Trigger Warning:

Thursday morning (14/11/2019) I was having a pelvic exam. I have pelvic pain and was about to have surgery. I gave my consent to this doctor to do the internal exam.

While doing the exam I screamed out in pain repeatedly. I was holding onto the bed crying. I had another doctor holding one of my legs down/open. The doctor performing the exam was feeling around being extremely rough repeatedly touching me where is hurt most asking “does this hurt?” He then pressed on my sorest point externally on my belly with pressure then pressed internally into my sorest point at the same time again asking “does this hurt?”

I was repeatedly crying and screaming “that hurts” trying to shut my legs.

Repeatedly.

Was my consent violated? Was I really assaulted? Should he have stopped when I first expressed my discomfort?

I feel so betrayed.

Do I take this to the police?
