IUI over IVF?

I’ve heard the guy we are seeing is a big IVF pusher. We have 15mil count which isn’t the greatest but it isn’t terrible. It is looking like IVF is the best option, but I can’t help but think to try an IUI first just exhaust all options before the big one. Not only is it less expensive but there is always a chance 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyone else try an IUI before IVF? What your situation? What was your outcome?

The success rate for iui is the same as conceiving naturally, so it doesn't actually increase your odds of getting pregnant.  Because of this, we chose to skip iui and go with ivf.  So glad we did...20 weeks pregnant from our first ivf cycle.  I have no regrets about not trying iui.

We tried 3 iui’s all failed sperm count was great. First Ivf cycle worked for us.

That was our plan this year to do iui because its cheaper but I just finished my 5th cycle which has failed (we have some good insurance coverage though so it is still a LOT less than straight to ivf). I have one more iui this year and if not moving to ivf next year.
In hindsight, I would recommend just going straight to ivf if you can afford it. Or maybe just 1 iui cycle and then ivf. Either way is a gamble. I don't have much faith left in iui 🤷🏻 maybe im not the best person to ask.

We got pregnant on our third and final IUI. Thank god because I couldn’t afford IVF, so it was really our only option in my eyes. It’s a lot less involved and less expensive, so I would recommend it.

We did one round of IUI and it worked for us. We planned to do 3 attempts at IUI, but we got pregnant on our first one!

I found ivf way more promising and less stressful then Iui.  I’m glad we went the ivf route of coarse it’s a commitment it wasn’t easy

If you are ready to take on IVF, I would skip IUI. It gives you the same odds as a couple trying naturally with no fertility issues, which is 15-20%. 
We have male factor, and we did 2 failed IUI rounds. If our insurance had let us, we would have gone straight to IVF to have a 50% chance with 1 embryo and a 70% chance with 2. Those two months feel like wasted time, but hindsight is obviously 20/20!

Iui works for about 30% of people in 3 cycles. Didn’t work for me with my unexplained infertility. I would look at the cost of iui Vs cost of Ivf and the success rates of each to help you make your decisions.
