Birth Plan?

Question

It's getting so close to due dates! What are some important things you all put on your birth plan or are in the back of your mind for your birth experience? I'm just curious to see if I'm missing anything?

My birth plan is literally just to have my baby safely however that may be. I don't want to stress it too much.

My only definite is going natural vaginal delivery with no pain meds. Everything else is up in the air. I do plan on laboring as long as I can at home, they have those balls at the hospital and those peanut things so we'll see what those do since I never used them before.

Plan: baby exits my body. Mom and Baby survive.
I would like to give birth vaginally, sans pain meds. But if it ends up being to much to bare so be it. If it ends up being safer to do a c-section so be it.
If I do give birth vaginally I would like to not be on my back. Maybe on my knees using my husband to stay upright.

If you’re at a teaching hospital decide if you’re okay with students there or not. Last time I allowed them, but this time I would rather not.

Delayed cord cutting! Other than that we’ll roll with the punches, though I keep meaning to ask if they do the laughing gas instead of epidural

My doctor this pregnancy actually gave me a paper to fill out that asked all sorts of questions on what I wanted during my labor and delivery which was awesome because with my first I honestly didn’t know how to answer that question. Things to think about and add into your birth plan: Do you want pain meds/epidural? Do you want dim lights? Who do you want in the room with you? Would you like some music during? Do you want to be hooked up to monitors the whole time or be able to get up and walk around some? Do you want to labor in the tub/shower at all until you’re ready to deliver? Do you want to be checked for dilation every few hours or have as little cervical checks as possible? Do you want your SO or someone specific to cut the cord?

My birth plan: to come out of this alive and healthy with a healthy baby. Period. I want to do skin to skin and delayed cord clamping but these are things my hospital does regardless, aside from any major medical complications that may prohibit them from doing so. Let nature take its course!

Vaginal (if possible), still 50/50 on epidural... but since period cramps would make me faint I’m sure I’ll end up opting for that!  And skin to skin/breastfeeding as soon as possible 😊

I had a birth plan with my daughter 9 years ago and didn’t really stick to it.
So last year with my son, I only had no students, no vax (he’ll get them with his ped), and delay cord cutting (which I couldn’t do bc his cord was extremely short).
This time I’ll stick to the same.

My hospital’s standard of care & treatment philosophy is pretty in line with what i want so not much need for a plan other than who NOT to have in the delivery room.
