I live about 15 miles south of Tucson currently and we’re looking to move to SLC! Sorry, but Tucson sucks. It’s hot 9-10 months out of the year, there’s practically nothing to do here, it’s ugly (some people like the desert scenery, but I HATE it), and the city of Tucson is sketch pretty much no matter where you go. I get nervous going into Tucson, especially alone. Pretty much the only upside for me is rarely ever having to deal with snow.
SLC has pretty much everything you could ever want and everything is close by! My hubby and I lived there for 4 months back in 2016 and loved it. It’s very family friendly. There are lots of events, especially around the holidays, to do with your family. It’s beautiful there and it actually has all 4 seasons unlike Tucson. You do have to deal with snow, but they keep the roads pretty clear. And as long as you have a garage you won’t really have to scrape snow/ice off your car much. Utah drivers are the worst though...

I live in tucson. It's a college town and a retirement town. They are also in the middle of trying to make it bigger and its really screwing with the old aesthetic that tucson used to have. Theres not really a lot to other than hiking. Its November and it's still in the low 80s. Summers get up to 110 on the regular. Monsoon season is a nightmare. 
Cant speak to SLC but it snows so I'd avoid that like the plague lol.

I used to live in Southern California (Palm Springs area) so climate was similar to Tucson. I’m currently just outside if SLC. My husband and I love it here. I hated the hot summers. It would be around 120 in the summer- winters didn’t get below like 80, but summer was unbearable. I hate the snow but it’s way better than 120 degrees where you can’t even leave your house. We’ve been here almost 3 years. As other commenter said there’s things to do year round. Drivers do suck, but they sucked in California too so to me not much difference. 
So I vote SLC.
