Has anybody traveled 5 hours by car around 32 weeks?

Question

My family lives 5 hours away and wants me to drive in for a baby shower at 32 weeks. I'm 17 weeks and getting very nervous about the idea of worst case scenario having a premature baby 5 hours from home. I will ask my doctor at my next appointment, but I'm curious if anybody else has done a trip like this? How did it go for you?

When I was 36/37 weeks we went on a four hour road trip to go on a little vacation. It was my second child, and my doctor just told me to be aware of the closest hospital. We brought the car seat just in case. 
She was actually born two days after we returned from the trip. I was 37+5.

Yep! I was 30 weeks but we drove about 4-4.5 hours! I was uncomfortable but it was perfectly safe!

For me it would depend on where you’re going, how good the hospitals are in the area, and if you’re having a healthy pregnancy or not. If you’re healthy and there is a decent hospital nearby I would go. Also it would depend on how long you plan to stay, but I’m a worrier.

I think you’ll be fine. I flew with my first pregnancy and this one across country, 4-5 hour flights each time. Plus a 2 hour drive on top of that. 
Just be sure to bring snacks and drink water and stop to stretch if you need too.

Can you tentatively say yes, but that you'll play it by ear at the time based on how you feel? I traveled at 32 weeks and 36 weeks and was fine. The only thing I would say is make sure you aren't alone so someone else can help with driving!

If you have no complications I wouldn’t worry about it. I flew from CA to London then Boston then home at 30 weeks (was gone for 2 weeks) then CA to Boston at 33 weeks. No issues at all.

Ask your doctor but you should be fine as long as your doctor says it’s okay. 
For me I wouldn’t be able to do it. I can’t drive more than 3 hours away from what my high risk ob told me, I’m high risk for premature labor and they want me close to them since my labors are only 2-3hours long with pushing and I have had two premature births before this.

I do :) my partners family live 5hrs drive away from us and we take turns driving, I drive one way to or from and he drives the other way to or from , have been travelling since I became pregnant till now at 34+3. I don’t think I’ll be going down till after bub is born though as I don’t have a reason to go, I have an excuse not to go for Xmas 😂 he’s due the 27th dec , as for how I went travelling, it hurts around 28/30 weeks onwards if you suffer sciatica like I do where I can’t sit down for more than half an hour without my ass being in agony so I am constantly shifting around 😒😩 but other than that, it was fine :) just a long boring drive
