It doesn't sound like this person fully understands what the honeymoon phase is. The honeymoon phase is when everything is new and exciting and both people are on their best behavior. It's a natural phase of most, but not all, relationships. It ends when both people start dropping their guards down. They begin to show their vulnerabilities, insecurities, and flaws. It's at this point that a deeper relationship forms. The passion and the excitement can still be there. But there's also a new level of comfort and commitment that happens after the honeymoon phase ends.

I think people should stop trying to dictate what is normal and what isn't for relationships that aren't their own.

I'm not going to really agree with this.
We're less affectionate with each other but it's not like we're sitting on the couch like strangers. We've been together for a long time, and obviously we still love each other very much but we've just changed the way we show each other.
It wasn't a choice, it was a normal progression for us.

4 years with my husband total. We still feel like we are in the “honeymoon stage”. Yes we have ups and downs but we work through it

19 months in and still in that phase. Yes we are more comfortable. 3 months married today. I don’t see it fading away.
