Our society in general places WAAAAAAYYY too much emphasis and care on the man being the main breadwinner, women shouldn’t be providing more than the man, etc. While yes, money is definitely needed to live, so is companionship and love. I personally think the latter is more important. As long as the man is doing his best and rising to the occasion in anyway he can, isn’t mooching off of me or EXPECTS me to pay for everything, and shows me genuine love and care, I don’t give a shit if I make 10 times more than he does. At the end of my life, the money I made won’t really matter past paying for funeral costs and making sure family left behind us secure. However the people I surrounded myself with and who subsequently will be surrounding me on my death bed do matter. Just how I look at it.

I make almost 6 figures. My husband makes $12 an hour. Four years ago I bought him a brand new Subaru WRX. He just traded that in for an Audi.
On the other hand, he changed his work schedule so he can stay home with our daughter so we don’t have to put her through daycare. He is the most caring man I’ve ever met. He loves me and supports my goals and dreams. He shows affection and I can feel the love he has for me. Who cares what person makes more money? As long as they love each other and support each other in other ways than more then it doesn’t even matter who makes what.

yes. i honestly don't see anything wrong with it as long as they're in a healthy relationship. my bf's field in our area will have him earn a comfortable amount, but i'm the sole successor of my father's businesses and will earn 3-4x as much as my bf. i wouldn't see anything wrong with it since even now, our shared costs are divided based on percentage of income and individual usage.

If their checks are going into the same account every week, and they don’t see it as a problem the it isn’t a problem. When I first met my husband, I made more than he did and I definitely saved money better than he did. But, it never stopped me from looking at him different. He now works hard and makes money to pay every bill himself, and he’s so proud but she’s got an established career that she spent a lot of time and energy into. He should be proud of her and accept it.

The ONLY thing I will say is that studies have shown that even in households where the woman is the primary breadwinner women tend to still end up taking on more of the housework, sometimes out of subconscious feelings of guilt that they need to make up for “emasculating” their husbands. If the husband is actually pulling his weight around the house, there’s nothing wrong even with him not working at all and being a full time stay at home husband doing the housework, cooking, etc.
