So I live in nyc and have been under my bfs car insurance (he’s been driving longer than me). The insurance I’m paying now isn’t too bad. However,  I just want to be on my own. Any suggestions? I’ve had my license for a few years now but I started officially driving in May 2019. Any insurance suggestions that wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg?

Go to the progressive website and enter the information for the coverage you want. They'll give you their rate plus 2 or 3 of the other bigger companies like All State and State Farm. Or you can call each insurance company individually to check rates. Additionally, you can call a broker who will do a comparison for you and present you with the top 3 or 4 options.
