Do you get the flu shot?

I’m not anti-vaxx or anything. I’m up to date on all my shots except I have never gotten the flu shot. I’m not opposed to it, I have just never had the flu and I haven’t gotten sick in general in 10+ years. No stomach bugs or colds or anything like that, So I just never thought about it tbh. Well my sister is pregnant and I will be helping her by babysitting since she’s in a bad spot financially she can not afford daycare. She’s due in February so I’m wondering if I should get the flu shot?? She hasn’t said anything about it, but since I’ll be around her son a lot should I get one? Thanks !!

Even if you never get the flu, the flu shot will keep you from spreading the flu to babies or the elderly if you are just a carrier.
The only side effect of the flu shot is a sore arm for a couple days. Why not just get it, even if there is only a small chance of it working.

I had the flu once like 12 years ago and thought I was going to die. I never want to feel that way again so I get the flu shot every year. If you can provide some protection to your nephew by getting the flu shot yourself, please do it.

If you don’t have the flu you won’t be giving it to her son. Just stay away from him if you feel even slightly off.

Definitely get one. You dont want to give a newborn the flu by some freak chance. Also double check your pertussis status. Avoid sick people like the plague.

It’s definitely worth getting in my opinion, especially if ur going to be around babies (and/or elderly people). I’ve gotten the shot every year with the exception of last year, and just got this year’s shot last week. I’ve never had the flu.

I always get the flu shot. It really isn’t a big deal. It’s nice to have it. Even if you do get the flu, the symptoms are less severe with it

I've been getting one for years because I work in healthcare and were constantly in and out of outbreak.
This year I got my 1 year old done as well.

I get it because my job requires it. If my job didn’t I probably wouldn’t get it. I never used to get the shot it just was never something I thought about. I also never leave the house aside from for work so my chance to spread the flu is limited. That being said flu season may be over by February? I’m not sure when it ends but maybe just ask her what she wants.
