Do you curse in front of your children? (Please read)

I have a friend that curses just like she always has. Her children are 4 and almost 2. They both curse. A lot. Her oldest tells everyone "fuck you" "shut the fuck up" "I'm a little asshole and love it" "You're a bitch" .... there are so many more but you get the idea. She curses in almost every sentance and her mom always laughs. I've asked her if shes worried about her daughter getting in trouble since school is starting for her soon. She says no. It's her child, she can do what she feels best, its just got me wondering about how most people feel about it.

My friend has always given the argument that "words are just words". But I disagree. Words are everything.

I curse a lot, I don't as much now that my son is 5 months old and starting to pay attention. I'm sure I'll still slip up and say things sometimes. But I think that's also a teaching opportunity. To explain there is a time and a place for those words and that they should never be expressed AT someone.

I also think our children should know us, truly. But for me there is a "mom" mode and a "actual me" mode. I'm not going to speak like a drunken sailor in front of my kid. Who I am with my friends isn't who I am as a mother.

Maybe I'm alone in this?
