Any advice on breastfeeding during the holidays?

I’m a FTM feeling a bit nervous for upcoming holiday season. I spend holidays at at a lot of family gatherings with my extended family and my boyfriend family. I’m not sure if I’m totally comfortable breastfeeding around them but my baby doesn’t take the bottle well it makes her very gassy and fussy.

I'd check in with the host and ask for an area that you can nurse in. Hopefully it's a comfortable spot. Nursing covers are awesome as well.

When I'm out or at other people's houses I just bring a nursing cover and nurse wherever. It hasn't been a problem so far. This is my second baby and I don't really care. Baby needs to eat too!

I would mention it before hand so they can get a bedroom ready for you. Something I’ve learned, make sure to feed your baby at whatever interval you do now say every 2 hours. Everyone will want to hold baby, don’t wait until you’re handed back a screaming baby who they’ve been trying to calm and is now famished. My in laws love to do that and it makes my babe so gassy by the time he finally gets to eat

I would just say that you should really make feeding a priority. Everyone will want to hold your baby and next thing you know it’s been hours since the last feed. Every time I have company over (there has been a lot since giving birth) my milk supply like almost completely dried up because I don’t get to nurse as often. I’m a little uncomfortable nursing in front of family as well and my family members are very insistent on holding my baby for long periods of time. Then when they leave my baby fusses a ton because there isn’t as much milk as before. Then I’m stuck working really hard to boost my supply. So yeah, just make feeding a priority! :)

Just ask for a private spot to nurse in. I did that with my first.
