Baby still breech... bummer
Had an in-office scan yesterday at 34+5 to see if baby was head down and baby is breech (he was transverse before that). I knew he wasn’t head down, but it just confirmed he wasn’t. Doc says only 3-4% of babies aren’t head down by 35-36 weeks and she thinks it’s unlikely he’ll flip, but still possible. Since I go to an academic practice that’s booking C-sections out til March already, we put one on the books, but it can always be cancelled. I have to decide if I want to try an ECV very soon because that’s also already booking a couple weeks out, but I’m honestly leaning against it. She said I’m welcome to try alternative methods (positioning, acupuncture, etc.) as it won’t likely hurt, but there’s no evidence that it helps.
I know a scheduled C-section isn’t the end of the world and there can still be a happy, healthy baby on the other side! I think I’m more just mourning the fact that it’s becoming less likely that I will get the experience of a vaginal birth and I’m also worried about the consequences of a major surgery on my body. I’m still staying hopeful that baby will change his mind though.
Thanks for letting me vent!
