Mommas of daycare biters
If your child repeatedly bites at daycare, what is their policy or plan they put in place? Our child is 19 months old so we know it's common and we read books about it at home and do not see this behavior at home, but he does it at daycare. Theres one teacher in the room with 6 toddlers and it mostly seems to happen whenever they do diaper changes. So they want to place our child into a highchair whenever they change diapers. They specifically said they didnt want to say they were restraining our child...but I mean that's basically what they are doing. So every 2 hours our child going to have to be in a high chair for at least 10 minutes, and then more if another child happens to need a diaper change in between those scheduled times. They dont use high chairs in this age group anymore but are going to bring one into the room just for this. I dont agree with this method. It makes me uncomfortable and I feel like there has to be another way they can redirect or prevent the behavior. I have asked them what we can do about the behavior before it got to this point and they just said it was normal toddler behavior and didnt really have a plan other than saying no. Now they have one because parents complained that there is a lack of supervision which is true! I was just looking to hear what other daycares do to find a different solution.
