Scar thickness?

I had a Csection 4.5 years ago. I'm now 36 weeks. My doctor will be scheduling a repeat Csection, because my scar is not thick enough to try for a VBAC. Does anybody know what is the minimum scar thickness needed??

At my 6 week postpartum checkup I asked my doctor if there was a way to check my uterine incision to see if I was at risk for tearing during any future pregnancies. He basically said, “yes and no.” He said that he used to do ultrasounds on VBAC mama’s to check the uterine scar but found time and time again that women with “thin scars still VBAC’d like rockstars.” <—- his actual phrase 😂
The truth is that there is always risk involved. It should be up to you to decided what you’re willing to go through. After 4.5 years I would think that you wouldn’t have any issues. Find a new provider and good luck mama!!

I am 38 weeks and doing a vbac, my doctor said the minimum is 5mm, mine is 5.7mm. It's above the cut off but just barely, so I'm still going for it. Your doctor should definitely be telling you ALL of the information around your vbac as far as the requirements and what criteria you are or are not meeting. I know it sounds bold, but a lot of women who want a vbac change providers in their last month just to make sure they have a doctor that will be supportive of their wants and needs. 
I personally feel like a lot of doctors (mine included) are quick to say "repeat c-section" after you've already had one. It saves them time and makes the hospital a lot of money to do a surgery than to go through a labor. I have researched this through my whole pregnancy and there is a lot of good info out there that is pro-vbac and the hazards of it are actually pretty slim (uterine rupture: 1-2% of women who have done a vbac have a uterine rupture, and ALL of the c-sections that follow a rupture are successful for both kom and baby. Hemorrhages: can happen to any woman who is having a baby either way, but some people only associate them with vbacs for really no reason). 
First, decide what YOU really want and why. For me, it was the list of benefits that came with a vbac that ended up persuading me more and more against a repeat c-section, although my Cesarean wasn't a bad experience. But decide what YOU want and why, then get the facts, talk to your partner about it, pray about it heavily, and then decide. If you pray and still feel nudged toward c-section, maybe there is a deeper reason behind it and you should just go with it.

This sounds like utter BS.
The truth is a doctor is unable to tell how you have healed after your ceaser until they cut you open for another.
You might have a beautiful scar externally but internally you healed poorly or vice versa.
Ask why the doctor believes this and get a second opinion.
