3 hour glucose test advice? Nervous .

To my surprise I failed my 1 hour... so tomorrow I have the 3 hour. As someone who hates blood draws, I’m not excited. Husband is coming with me (so sweet)... but, any other tips?

I don't think you should change your diet the day before.  That's basically trying to trick the test into saying you don't have GD and then you go back to your regular diet the next day. The problem with that is if you really did have GD and the test couldn't pick it up because you've temporarily changed your diet then it will go uncontrolled the rest of your pregnancy. People who don't control their GD during pregnancy end up getting regular diabetes after baby is born.  Such a silly and harmful tactic...
Just act normal,  eat normal,  bring something to entertain yourself for 3 hours.

I just took my 3 hour last week. I too failed my 1 hour but passed my 3 hour. So many people told me to cut down on my carbs the day before I fast but I say just listen to your doctor and you will be fine. I too am afraid of shots/blood draws and I can honestly say the first 2 draws weren’t bad but the second 2 were painful since they did all 4 in one vein. What was bad for me was the fasting for 8 hours before and then drinking the drink since it’s a higher concentrate of sugar, I felt light headed and like I was going to barf. They did have somewhere that I could recline the chair and put my feet up and that helped a lot! Good luck!

Just make sure you are well hydrated leading up to the testing a day or two before because you have to fast and it's hard to draw blood when you are dehydrated. Also, bring a book or something to do in between because you have to stay at the lab for the duration. I just did mine this morning.

Thanks all! Currently 30 min in... thankfully they have a cozy chair and a tv with hdtv playing. The syrup water is 🤢, but I think I’ll make it. 😂

No need to change your diet or anything for the 3 hour one. My midwife told me if you fail, you fail, changing your diet won’t change how your body normally processes glucose. I failed my one hour, and passed my three hour, and I was eating like a normally did right up until I had to fast (my normal was legit snickers bars and cherry cream pie for snacking lol)
I will say having my husband there helped immensely. I was so out of it after the test was done that he drove us home, but not before stopping at Wendy’s for me so I could get cheese fries 😂

I just was more aware of my sugar intake because it was the reason I did not pass the first time. I didn't realize how much sugar is in everything. 25 grams a day is what we should be getting.

Watch a movie on a iPad or something in the car between drawls. Just remember to set a timer.
