Breastfeeding if baby is born with low blood sugar?

I have GD which is semi controlled but not controlled enough. I will most likely be induced the 1st week of December due to elevated BP and my GD. 
My dietitian told me if my baby has low blood sugar, I’ll have to formula feed him instead of breastfeeding, but I want to breastfeed since I wasn’t able to with my first. Has anyone been told this before? 
Also how long did it take for you to get back to normal or did the diabetes stick around?

My baby is eight weeks. I had diet controlled GD and luckily she never had low bs, so I can’t speak for that. My diabetes went away right after the baby. I went nuts eating all the things I missed. Now I’m back to moderation because I don’t want to see my endocrinologist ever again (and he agrees)

With my last his sugars were low if I just breastfeed, so added formula and he was good. They did use this tube thing that goes against the nipple so that baby was breast feeding but the formula was coming through the tube.

I just had my baby girl 6 days ago and she did have low blood sugar after birth. I was able to breastfeed and supplement with a combination of donor breast milk and formula until my milk came in about 4 days after she was born. We are already weaning her to just breastfeed and it’s going great, so don’t worry yourself over it! I had to supplement feed with my son 2 years ago as well due to jaundice, so it’s really not uncommon either, after your milk comes in, you just adjust until they get enough just from breastfeeding alone and don’t need the supplement anymore.

You can still breast feed. They just want to supplement with formula to regulate blood sugar!  I had GD with both my girls and their blood sugars were fine at birth!  My GD was not the most controlled and I was on medicine with the first and insulin with the second.  Don’t stress momma!!
