Doggy day care?

Question

We have an 8 week old German Shepherd. I was looking to put him in doggy day care a few days a week when he’s a little older. Just so he has some play time and can socialize with other dogs. Do you recommend this?

Look into Rover! People do doggy daycare out of their homes. I’m Rover certified. It’s a lot cheaper I believe than most places. www.rover.com :)

Especially a German Shepard, they have a lot of energy! That’ll help wear him out while you guys are gone working and he won’t be cooped up in a cage all day + it’ll socialize him with other dogs!

Definitely! I work at ome and it's great for socialization. I believe a puppy needs to meet at least 100 dogs before his first birthday to become fully socialized, and he will probably surpass that number :). I wouldn't recommend petsmart though. Definitely do a place such as Dogtopia and read reviews :)

Yes yes and yes. As soon as he is fully vaccinated he should be in a socialization program. Shepherds are always in great need of it and they don’t always get it.

Yes! Do your research on the place first though. I take my rescue to doggy daycare to keep him socialized with people and other animals and it’s worked well! They also have cameras where I can watch at all times so I know what’s going on and am comfortable with the employees who are dealing with him.

Yes! Definitely seek out reputable places. Check into your local pet stores or grooming salons to see about recommendations

If he has all of his shots then yes go for it. I worked at a grooming salon/ daycare for 12 years. There are airborne viruses that are contagious and gnarly for puppers. But either than that I’d say yeah, also start with nail trims.

I definitely recommend this. My pug went to doggy day care when I just got him c
Because he was tiny and I didn’t trust the bigger dogs alone with him. He loves it! He was super excited in the mornings when I said ‘school time’  and he was so tired when I went to pick him up after work. He’d sleep the whole way home

Personally I think that's silly why don't you just take your dog to the dog park but it wouldn't hurt if you have the money to do so

I feel very conflicted about doggy day care really do some research because a lot of doggy day cares don't actually take care of your dog.
