Does having sex Help dilate??

Question

Currently 38 weeks 3 days. My doctor said if I don't dilate by 39 weeks I'll most likely get Induced and I'll have a higher chance of having another csection so I need help getting my baby here. Any suggestions will do. Thank you in advance

Why is he giving you that 39 week “deadline”??!! You aren’t even at your due date and dilation before labor means nothing. Sounds like he’s setting you up for a csection.

I am 38 weeks and my doctor told me at my last appointment that there are new studies out recently that suggest inducing a week before the due date can reduce the chances of c-section. She offered to induce me a week early and I declined. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor why they are suggesting this, take time to talk with your partner about the choice, and say no if it's not what you want.

If you're not in labour it should not be expected of your cervix to dilate - kit should he be putting fingers in your vagina! He is definitely preparing to section you - that is sub standard care. 
You can go into labour when your body is ready - no evidence suggests that you need to be induced at 39 weeks. It shouldn't even be discussed until term.

All discussion about your doctor aside, you can't really force your body into labor if it isn't ready. There's a lot of misinformation out there, and many of the methods are useless while others are actually dangerous. 
The good: 
Sex and nipple stimulation. Your uterus has Oxytocin receptors that remain insensitive until they decide to become sensitive right before labor. This means any oxytocin releasing activity COULD send enough of this hormone out to jumpstart some contractions. You'll have a higher release with sexual-type nipple stimulation, not just "playing with them."
The prostaglandin in semen softens the cervix, but you'd need a LOT of semen to do anything. 
Eating dates will help prep your cervix for labor as well
You could ask your doc for a membrane sweep
The bad:
Walking yourself half to death is just going to wear you out. The contractions you experience are brought on by dehydration, they're not real labor contractions. They'll likely disappear with rest and could leave you really tired right before going into labor. 
The ugly:
Taking castor oil may cause contractions because it's a laxative. It will make your intestines extra grumbly, and the tale goes that your grumbly intestines will make your uterus contract. It's more likely that you'll wind up with awful diarrhea, and the dangerous part is that your baby could also pass a bowel movement before birth and wind up aspirating meconium.

With my second son, i was 37 weeks (but i think my due date was off. Thought i was always a little farther along.) and i had sex at around 11pm and woke up at 8 am with contractions 5 mins apart. I thought it was just braxton hicks but it turned into 3 mins apart and started hurting to where i couldnt talk. My ex rushed me to the hospital and i when i got there i was 8 cm. They wouldn't give me any drugs! I had him natural and was only in labor for 2 hours. And spent maybe 20 minutes pushing. Lol so yes. Sperm helps dilate.
