Toddler vs twin bed?!

Help mamas! We are due in March with baby # 2 and we are wanting to transition our 2 year old to a big girl bed. Looking into a toddler bed bs a twin bed with rails?! 
Any advice? For some reason this transiton makes me so nervous! 😬

Ours has been in a twin bed for 2 months without rails and has done great. It’s nice if she does wake in the middle of the night I can just lay with her for a couple minutes and she’s right back to sleep.

We did a twin with safety railing for my first because we needed the crib for our second, the Nov 2016 baby. Worked perfectly and was in no way too big. The girls currently share a room in our two bedroom rental and our new home won’t be ready for a while after baby 3 is born so we had to convert the crib to a toddler bed and new baby will be in a pack and play in our room. The converted toddler bed is working fine. If I had the room I would do another twin though and give new baby the crib.

We started with a twin mattress on the floor. It's been great for him and for us to be able to lay with him in it. He was about 19 months when we moved him to it. He's still a crazy sleeper and so I'm not sure we will be getting a frame anytime soon since we are so happy with how things are.

We did a race car bed, bought on Facebook. Low so no injury and fun to intrigue. Put the bed in the same location as the crib and be ready for some staying in bed struggle.

I decided to go with the toddler bed. My son has been in it since September. He started out sleeping on the floor for a long time and I thought he hated it at first lol. His little brother is 6 months old and I just moved him from the pack and play to the old crib. Had to buy a second crib mattress, but it came out as the more affordable option. I plan on my boys to use the toddler mattresses for at least a few years.
