Proposing with class ring (graduation ring), cute or trashy?

My fiance recently proposed to me using his class ring from when he graduated from high school years ago. It's about a $200 ring with his school's name, his initials engraved on the inside, and an amethyst, since that's his birth stone. I love the ring and think it's adorable the way it represents him, but others don't quite agree.

I think its really up to you and whatbu agree on. Just because he proposed using it doesnt mean that has to be the ring. I wanted something I liked so.... it would be a no go for me to keep that as an engagement ring.

From my own point of view, I would want something more personalized. A class ring would just feel like a hand me down and not as thoughtful. BUT at the end of the day if you’re okay with it then that’s all that matters! Don’t worry about everyone else it’s not their ring.
