Update: my OFM called tonight and told me he can be home for thanksgiving but has to be back to work by Friday. We already planned a special letter from Santa saying he would make a special visit when dad comes home. He will still miss our little mans birthday but wants to do a small cake and ice cream while he is home. And we will just make up our anniversary another time. I’m still not a fan of the holidays but at least we get to have him for a little.

So unpopular opinion here but I officially hate the holidays. My husband works in the oilfield causing him to miss a lot. He just called and told me he just volunteered to work through his days off making it were he won’t be home until after the new year. He is now going to miss thanksgiving, our wedding anniversary, our youngest 2nd birthday (he already missed the first because of work last year) and Christmas. We have two kids our oldest is autistic and has adjustment disorder on top of it all. He was set in stone on his dad being home tomorrow. So now I have to sit here and try and explain that daddy isn’t going to be home for awhile but he loves and misses him too. I hate seeing our boys so sad because dad isn’t home and is missing everything important.
