What’s your birth plan?

I’ve recently been told I won’t be able to have an epidural. And I have a low pain tolerance too. 😟 I’m thinking of being in the water for the contractions and then when baby comes to just get on the bed and do what the doctors want.

Seconding the other methods above, but, start watching YouTube videos on breathing techniques and *actually* practice them. I’ve started to and while it doesn’t work miracles, it’s been keeping me calmer (panic increases pain!)
I personally really love the series a doula named Bridget Teyler did, she’s straightforward and practical.

My birth plan is just delivery a healthy baby. From friends’ baby stories I’ve realized that life doesn’t always go according to plan. Would I like an epidural? Of course! Do I want to avoid a c-section? Absolutely. However, when you make plans someone(God) laughs and throws your plans out the window (in my opinion from what I’ve been through and again witnessed from friends). At the end of the day, just get my baby out and make sure he’s healthy. Good luck! 🙏🏻

In our plan we wrote absolutely no epidural, sorry you don’t get the choice! But we were informed of laughing gas, morphine and fentanyl (low doses) if I can’t handle the pain.

We did the Mama Natural birth class online. It was $200 with the Facebook discount but I thought it was worth it. 
My OB recommended the Bradley Method book and I hear great things about Ina May Gaskins book.

Birth plan is to go to the hospital and leave with a baby. However I get to that point doesn’t matter... epidural, vaginal birth, c-section, alien abduction... I don’t care. Literally everyone I know with a “birth plan” has had it all go to shit and been extremely disappointed, so I’m not bothering.

Not sure if this eases your mind but my friend recently had an all natural birth and she did wonderful.  She said it was definitely painful, but tolerable.  You can also birth in different positions which helps.  I’ve heard on your side or in doggy style are much more comfortable than on your back.

Do some research on positions! Certain positions help with different pain and some decrease the chance of tearing 🙂

I went no pain meds with my first one and the shower worked wonders for me.  I also had my husband and sister apply pressure and cool towels at various points to help with the pain.  Really I just relaxed into the pain instead of tensing against it, did horse lips - buzzing my lips - and moved around and squatted to where I was comfortable. Similar issue with my blood. It’s totally doable though if you have access to water - the worst pain was honestly the doctors/nurses checking my dilation and stitching me up after. Be sure they get that local in!

Why can’t you have an epidural? There are other options you can have. Tens machine,gas and air, pethadine..
