Can birth control side effects suddenly change..?!

I have depression and anxiety, and have had Nexplanon for 2.5 years.
In the past month to now I have been suicidal, along with stress from work, but suicidal nonetheless. 
I am otherwise alright, but I just dont feel quite right.. Could my birth control suddenly be giving me a side effect or...?

Is say the stress from work is more likely to have put you into the depression cycle. Has your doctor changed your anxiety or depression meds recently? Please schedule an appointment ASAP. Yes birth control can effect it but you’ve been on it 2.5 years.

Yep! I had the Mirena and after about 2 1/2 years I started having really bad emotional and mental side effects

It can. I had nexplanon before and I swear my hormones got fucked over the 1.5 year mark. I started to get irregular periods non stop spotting anxiety and depression ):
