Is it bad for baby‘s hearing if people kiss them right near their ear?

I thought this was nonsense, but I just looked it up (scholarly journals people, not just regular Google), & apparently, it is a thing. It can happen to adults, but can be especially dangerous to babies if you kiss them in their ears. The pressure change from the "smooch" can damage the tiny hairs inside the ear & even the ear bones. Who knew?

I just wouldn’t because it’s uncomfortable for me let alone a baby 🤷🏻‍♀️ I find it rather annoying

Actually, our ped told us not to let anyone kiss on the ears. Something about the pressure can effect their ear drums. But I think it was more of newborn concern, not after several weeks.

Near their ear? Probably not an issue; but I remember hearing about a mom whose kid kissed them in their ear and it popped the moms ear drum or something like that.

A little, quiet kiss, no. A loud kiss or blowing in the ear can cause an infection or a change in pressure. I don’t know why you’d ever blow in a baby’s ear though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t know why people are acting like it’s a dumb question. Yeah I would think it’s possible because some people make a loud smooch noise when they kiss babies. They have very sensitive hearing/ears. I have a family member that would kiss my baby next to or on his ear really loud and I would have to tell them not to do that. It was loud to me and I wasn’t the one being kissed 🤷🏻‍♀️
