Best way to get rid of bed bugs?

Never had them but I’ve heard stories. You need a professional service to come in and get rid of them and apparently sometimes that doesn’t work. I’ve heard stories of where apparently people had to get ride of damn near all their furniture. Apparently they can’t survive extreme heat. Idk good luck though.

We had to get our clothes stuff animals everything put in a plastic bag than wash in high heat and had to get someone to spray 3 times it was crazy and gross

I’ve had bed bugs twice. Only professional exterminators that spray chemicals throughout your house will get rid of them. Mine drilled tiny holes into the walls and sprayed inside the walls as well. They will also spray your mattresses and couches. I ended up moving out of the house for a day to give everything time to dry and air out. You will also have to wash and/or dry every piece of clothing you have on high heat to make sure they’re dead. Keep all your clothes in sealed plastic garbage bags until you’re ready to wash/dry.

My husband and I moved into and apartment that had bed bugs. Landlord failed to mention that. We had to throw our bed away and sleep on the floor for a month because it took him forever to get an exterminator. I had EVERYTHING washed and sealed. Luckily the landlord rein-versed is for the bed so we got two months free of rent lol

The landlord got exterminator service specilizing in bedbugs. We had to wash any item that was fabric, seal in bags while they exterminated. Apparently it was only in one room, not the whole apartment, but they still did everything. I bought bedbug proof boxspring & mattress covers. Luckily we did not have to throw stuff away. It was a very annoying experience.

So this is going to be a long response. There’s 2 options, hire professional help, or do it yourself. BOTH options require diligent work on your part or you won’t get rid of them. If you hire professional help, you will still need to pack EVERY and I do mean every article of clothing into plastic trash bags, wash and dry on the hottest setting, throw away the trash bag as soon as clothes are out of it. I would get plastic totes for everything you aren’t going to use on a day to day basis and pack the clean clothes in there till your in the clear. You will also need to do this step if you do it yourself. Sometimes replacing furniture and hiring professionals isn’t possible financially. When you do it yourself I started with vacuuming, EVERYTHING, the bed, floors, furniture, stuffed animals. When you take the bag out of the vacuum it’s very important to put it in trash bag and take it immediately out. I then put a mattress protector made specifically for bed bugs on all beds. Clothing and stuffed animals that had been cleaned went into plastic totes surrounded by powder. I would then steam clean the floors and ALL furniture, simply failing to take a bed frame apart to steam will result in continuing to have bed bugs. I went room my room, and after each room had been steamed, and de clothed, furniture steamed, I applied powder to every crevice. Behind and under baseboards and outlets in every part of a dresser, along every trim. Also important to treat blinds  and pictures on walls to insure they haven’t moved there. Room by room bed to couch to hutch repeat. I spent about $300 total between mattress protectors,
Plastic totes and a $100 steamer, and 2 bottles of powder. It took a total of 3 weeks, I worked full time with a toddler. It’s been over a year now and I still check every week every piece of  furniture because never again!!!￼ No judgment I lived in an apartment and got them from my neighbors, as they can travel through walls. It’s a lot but totally doable and the worst is really the laundry and you have to do that either way you go, at least it was for me I dreaded washing all the “clean” clothes that I had in my closet. Other than that it’s vacuuming and steaming everything with is very time consuming but I just didn’t have the thousands of dollars to spend on a professional. Good luck!!!!!!

Lemon juice. Not diluted, just straight up fresh lemon juice. My grandma has 5 kids and they lived in some pretty questionable places. Lemon juice worked everytime. She swears by it

I lived with my husbands uncle for sometime awhile back, he had bed bugs. He paid 1100$ for 3 treatments that did not work. We moved shortly after but threw away everything except what could fit into the washer and dryer. We didn’t bring them with us thank god, but I’m sure that house still has em. There really isn’t much you can do tbh but hope an exterminator can help. Ig it would also depend on how bad the infestation is. If you catch it early enough it’s probably easier to get rid of. Don’t take the cheap route or you’ll never get rid of em. Good luck tho, I’m not trying to be discouraging by any means btw just letting you know there’s really no “easy fix”.

We threw out our couch and living room recliner. Had a professional come in and do what he does. Then we bought mattresses covers that prevent bugs from getting in or out. I also had a friend that brought in a company to do the high heat treatment to their house but that cost them around 2,000 bucks.
