Diva cup and the ring simultaneously?

Hello ladies! I’ve looking into making the switch to the diva cup, but I use the Nuva ring for birth control. Am I able to use both at the same time?

You have to remove the ring for a week for your period. So cup would be in the week the ring is out.

I think so, don't you have to remove the ring to get your period? 
I was given a ring as a sample, but never used it actually, I thought that's what they said?
